Privacy Policy

Overview

Film Palace is a private, personal application. Your data belongs to you. We collect only what is necessary to operate the service, we do not sell or share it with third parties for advertising, and we do not build profiles for targeting.

Information we collect

  • Account information — your email address and name, provided through Google Sign-In via Clerk. We do not store your Google password.
  • Palace data — the movies, rooms, notes, tags, and personal memories you add to your palace. This is your content and is stored privately in our database.
  • Usage analytics — we use Google Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated page-view data (no cookies, no cross-site tracking, no personal identifiers). See Google's privacy policy.

How we use your information

  • To provide and maintain the Film Palace service.
  • To personalise your palace (rooms, suggestions, Archivist responses) using only your own data — never shared across users.
  • To send transactional emails (account notices) if necessary.
  • We do not use your data for advertising, sell it to third parties, or share it with AI training datasets.

Third-party services

  • Clerk — handles authentication and session management. Clerk Privacy Policy.
  • TMDB (The Movie Database) — provides movie metadata. We send TMDB API requests on your behalf (no personal data is transmitted). TMDB Privacy Policy.
  • Vercel — our hosting provider. Your data is stored on Vercel-managed infrastructure in the EU/US. Vercel Privacy Policy.
  • Anthropic (Claude) — used by the AI Archivist feature. Archivist queries are sent to Anthropic with only your anonymised palace data (film titles, scores, and notes), not your name or email. Anthropic does not use this data to train its models. Anthropic Privacy Policy.

Data retention and deletion

Your palace data is retained as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page, which permanently deletes all your palace data from our systems. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

Cookies

Film Palace uses only session cookies required for authentication (managed by Clerk). We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies.

Children

Film Palace is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to or restrict processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below.
